Dubbed the "Harvard of comics" by Philadelphia Weekly, the SCAD sequential arts program is marked by its comprehensive curriculum integrating traditional techniques with advanced technology and specialized digital applications. As a professor in this program, you will join a faculty that empowers students to explore the discipline's various styles and genres and to create content that spans comic books and strips, graphic novels, video games, film, television, and so much more.

In this role, you will model leadership and fulfill teaching assignments as determined by the contact hours listed in the Employment Agreement, including syllabus design, submission, and approval; midterm grade reviews; and availability for office hours, extra help sessions, learning opportunities, and field trips. You will conduct course and program assessments, meet grading and academic documentation requirements, and record attendance for each class per academic policies and regulations. You will also attend on-ground and virtual activities, including admission events, faculty councils, and exhibitions, among others. Additionally, you may be asked to participate in or assist with curriculum assessment and development meetings, accreditation support, institutional effectiveness meetings, and other publicity assignments.  

Minimum qualifications:    

  • Terminal degree in sequential art or a related discipline   
  • Experience in or knowledge of relevant professions

Preferred qualifications:   

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:      

  • Academic and professional credentials to teach sequential art

Travel required:       

  • Less than 10%
