As an assistant director of student involvement, you will build strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to enhance the university experience. You will collaborate with the director of student involvement to design, execute, and evaluate activities and programs that align with the university’s mission to improve student engagement. In partnership with the involvement events team, you will organize large-scale events and retention-oriented programs that promote belonging and community. You will also work with the director to coordinate major student involvement events, including Welcome Weeks, Spooktacular, late-night brunch, quarterly initiatives, orientation, and SCAD Signature Events. Among other responsibilities, you will manage program budgets, collect data, maintain files, and complete reports. Additionally, you will oversee student trips and travel experiences across all SCAD locations.
In this position, you will oversee student clubs and organizations, including registration and approval processes, and support all clubs with budgeting, space reservations, and daily operations. You will help in creating and expanding new clubs, ensuring they align with the university’s mission and values to maintain compliance and accountability for club spending. Additionally, you will train club leaders and advisers to ensure they follow policies, safety practices, and location standards. You will serve as the primary contact and supervisor during evenings and weekends and advise the Inter-Club Council (ICC) on educational, social, community service, and cultural programs’ development and implementation. You will also provide leadership development, training, and guidance for ICC leaders and advisers. Responsibilities include the completion of assessments and evaluations of ICC programs to foster improvements and measurable student engagement outcomes, as well as the organization and oversight of student club fairs, expos, and recruitment events.
In this role, you will work with the director to develop student leadership training and initiatives, including contributions to the annual LEAD Conference, recruitment and interview days, leadership awards, and professional development. You will serve on student leadership committees and collaborate with faculty and staff to enhance student engagement opportunities. Responsibilities include the design and implementation of assessment-based programs and training that meet student needs and support the growth of the SCAD Atlanta community. You will also supervise student employees, manage all communications related to student involvement, and work with senior student leaders to create content that promotes events, highlights opportunities for involvement, and fosters an inclusive community. According to the university events calendar, you will coordinate content distribution and scheduling, ensuring adherence to SCAD standards.
As an assistant director, you will serve on the university’s emergency and disaster response team as essential personnel, responding to emergencies, crises, and on-call needs. This role is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In case of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.
The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent communication and organizational skills. They are flexible and adaptable to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and have a strong attention to detail.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- At least two years of experience in student activities in a university setting or equivalent experience
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Experience in content creation and social media strategy, group facilitation, and instructional design for personalized learning

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
