You will acquire, preserve, organize, and catalog relevant materials and collaborate with digital collections librarians to digitize projects. Based on industry best practices, you will develop and maintain standards, policies, procedures, and promotions for all identified areas. Additionally, you will identify materials for patron use; provide instruction to students; host tours and develop workshops, exhibits, events; and other outreach initiatives to increase awareness and usage of archives and special collections.
In this role, you will create and maintain online research guides for archives and special collections. You will select and acquire new materials that align with the SCAD Libraries' collection strategy, university curricula, and input from constituents. You will determine storage arrangements and preservation planning and contribute to related technical and visual resource initiatives. Additionally, you will develop beneficial university-wide working relationships to enhance the promotion and stewardship of library resources, manage positive donor relationships, and work collaboratively to cultivate funding. The person in this position will also develop local, state, and national liaisons to further the awareness of SCAD archives and collections.
In this position, you will advise and assist with requests for publication and other uses of library resources. You will address issues related to the archives and special collections, staff the reference desk, and support other library areas. Among other duties, you will collaborate with the research and instruction associate, provide cross-training and indirect supervision, and oversee the hiring process for work-study students.
