As a student success adviser, you will cultivate relationships with 400–500 SCAD students early in their academic journeys to provide quality educational experiences and services. Through First Year Experience courses, you will support a caseload of incoming students assigned by major through orientation. You will monitor their progress after course completion and until graduation through continuous contact and early alert programs. A regular communication plan is vital for tracking enrollment and coursework. You will also advise students on financial aid, account management, and major/minor selection.

The person in this position will develop training programs for degree audit software, MySCAD, and web registration, as well as provide guidance on academic and university policies to help students complete transactions. Additionally, you will assist students with course registrations, review course selections, help with forms, and manage web requests for registration overrides and curriculum variances. In this role, you will coordinate services with admission, the bursar's office, student involvement, the office for career and alumni success, student support services offices, and academic services to develop communications and programs that enhance student retention. Responsibilities will include participation in the summer programming to engage with new students and parents before enrollment, student contact documentation in Salesforce, and curriculum review and catalog proofing assistance. Among other duties, you will regularly communicate with department chairs and faculty about curriculum, course needs, academic policies, and academic advising procedures.

The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional communication, organizational, and collaborative skills. They can also meet multiple, competing deadlines with ease. The candidate should excel as an independent contributor and as part of a team, and must thrive in an ever-evolving environment. A passion for fostering a positive atmosphere that prepares students for professional careers is vital.

Minimum qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Master's degree
  • Experience in advising, financial aid, or higher education counseling

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
