As an audiovisual (AV) support specialist, you will set up, operate, and dismantle sound and video systems for university events. You will ensure optimal use of conference rooms, multimedia assets, and IT resources. You will attend production meetings, provide support and leadership at live events, and manage service requests. You will also prepare and present staff reports and other correspondences. Additionally, you will oversee all AV department inventories across the university.

In this role, you will create equipment lists, floor plans, and rack and console elevations. You will maintain an understanding of all audio, lighting, video, and system operations. You will ensure that the equipment and university vehicles are kept in good condition. Additionally, you will guarantee that all requested operational and setup equipment functions properly according to department standards. You will also act as an operator and troubleshooter to support all levels of presentation and performance needs. As a key member of the AV team, you will adhere to all OSHA regulations and safe practices.

The ideal candidate has a background in the setup and operation of live events in large spaces such as music venues, conference rooms, and teleconferencing settings. The candidate demonstrates technical support skills to troubleshoot issues on-site and manage infrastructure concerns related to presentation equipment. They are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a team, and supporting various presentations and events to ensure smooth completion. They are also committed to delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining effective communication.

Minimum Qualifications:      

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, broadcast technology, or a related discipline
  • At least one year of professional experience working with AV equipment
  • Experience with AV equipment setup, operation, and disassembly
  • Familiarity with live AV workflow for indoor and outdoor productions

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:  

  • Valid driver’s license

Travel Required:  

  • More than 50%   

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
