As a health and fitness coach, you will address various aspects of wellness—physical, emotional, intellectual, environmental, occupational, financial, social, and spiritual—to create a holistic approach to student well-being. You will provide one-on-one sessions and lead well-being initiatives focusing on nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle strategies tailored to the unique needs of acting students. You will design and lead classes that enhance physical performance and promote overall well-being, along with nutrition, stress management, and performance enhancement workshops. You will offer personalized nutrition sessions to help students grasp the importance of diet in their performance and well-being. Additionally, you will assist students in understanding and implementing healthy eating habits, preparing nutritious meals, and making informed choices that fuel their bodies for optimal performance.

In this role, you will equip students with tools and techniques to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional well-being in high-pressure environments. You will collaborate with students to set wellness goals, track their progress, manage projects and tasks effectively, and foster positive self-images and body acceptance, which are essential for artistic expression and confidence. You will develop routines that integrate physical readiness, mental focus, and emotional resilience to ensure students' peak performance, teaching them injury prevention techniques and pain management strategies to maintain long-term health and performance.

In this position, you will support students in achieving their professional and personal goals, helping them cultivate a sense of purpose and meaning in their artistic journey. You will guide students in balancing their artistic commitments with their personal lives to enhance overall life satisfaction. You will teach effective energy management strategies to maintain stamina and focus during demanding schedules while demonstrating strong initiative and self-direction.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, health and wellness, or nutrition, with a specialization in sports nutrition, nutrition, lifestyle, or mindset
  • At least three years of experience coaching or teaching physical fitness collegiately or in the professional realm
  • Expert in nutrition, fitness, and health coaching

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • More than 15 years of professional experience
  • At least five years of experience in health coaching, personal training, or nutrition counseling with high performers in the arts or similar fields
  • Board certification as a nutritionist (RD or CNS) or equivalent
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification in Personal Training or Strength and Conditioning 

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)
  • Licensed Dietitian (LD)
  • Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)
  • Wellcoaches® Certified Health and Well-being Coach (CHWC)
  • Certified Personal Trainer (ACSM-CPT)
  • Certified Group Fitness Instructor (ACE-CGFI)
  • Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT® 200)
  • Zumba® Dance Licensed Instructor
  • STRONG by Zumba® Licensed Instructor

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
