As the executive director of student success, you will develop a thriving program and collaborate with multiple departments within and beyond student success, including athletics, student success and advising, mental health services, disability resources, university recreation, community standards, SCADhome, registrar services, SCAD dining services, and more. Responsibilities include strategic leadership and operational oversight of SCADhome hospitality, university recreation, and SCAD student media. You will also assist with logistical and operational planning for SCADhome and SCAD dining services programs. Additionally, you will supervise weekly meetings with department directors to review progress, address concerns, and ensure alignment with institutional goals. Other responsibilities include contributing to the development and implementation of departmental goals, budgets, and assessment activities, and representing the university during orientation programs, admissions events, and other student- and family-focused initiatives.

In this position, you will play a vital role in student crisis management. You will serve as the primary on-call leader, coordinate with university safety, visit hospitals, and communicate with families and university leadership. Responsibilities include oversight of the student code of conduct and community standards appeals and participation in the adjudication of Title IX cases as a hearing, appeal, or sanctioning officer. Additionally, you will act as a representative of SCAD to students, parents, and the broader university community, advising students on personal, disciplinary, and academic issues. You will also prepare and submit weekly updates to the AVP for hospitality and wellness and the vice president for SCAD Atlanta, coordinate the production of the annual student handbook, and compile quarterly and annual progress reports for SCADhome hospitality, university recreation, student media, and community standards.

The ideal candidate is an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to collaborate positively with students, faculty, families, and staff. The candidate is also knowledgeable about current issues and trends related to student services.

Minimum qualifications:  

  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least three years in a leadership role and seven years of experience in higher education (student services preferred) or a related industry

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license

Travel required:

  • 10–20%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
