Position Summary

SCAD has one of the largest university transportation programs in the country. The Director of Transportation and Parking Services is responsible for providing leadership, expertise, and management for the administration of the university transportation system to include parking, SafeRide, university charter services and academic routes at SCAD Savannah and SCAD Atlanta.
The director will recommend changes and improvements for university parking, transportation, and vehicle operations consistent with university policy and in collaboration with SCAD partners and other stakeholders.
The director ensures that transportation and parking programs and services are actively communicated to the SCAD community and provides excellent service to students and staff.

Duties and responsibilities

  • % - • Manages transportation services at both Savannah and Atlanta campuses • Works with university stakeholders and others to develop and implement a strategic plan for the Department of Parking and Transportation that takes into account best practices and innovative programs for parking management and for active transportation and transit-oriented transportation to, from and within the campus. • This position is SCAD’s liaison with local and state government representatives in SAV and ATL with all transportation related issues. • Directs the day-to-day business operations of the parking operations, university SafeRide program and management of the campus-wide transportation system. o SafeRide operations in both SAV and ATL. SafeRide is operated nightly from midnight to 7am. • Oversight of the university transportation vendor to support the university needs and ensure a positive student experience. • Implements equipment, tools, programs, policies, practices and systems to ensure effective, efficient, principled and customer service-oriented operations. • Manages programs and services aimed at facilitating the use of alternative modes of transportation. o This includes the management of the SCAD bike rental program with over 120 bikes in SAV. • Ensures that all programs and services are appropriately marketed for maximum access by campus constituents. • Annual development and implementation of the parking and transportation budget. • Manages the transit bus fleet in both Atlanta and Savannah. • The position develops new routes (whenever we add academic buildings or residence hall buildings) and ensures all current routes are operating efficiently. • The position responds to all student and parent complaints regarding transportation, parking and SafeRide. • The position manages all SCAD charters in SAV and ATL to include academic field trips, daily admission tours, SCAD Day routes, special events (Film Festival, commencement, TVfest, etc.) and all athletic charters. • The position is responsible for ensuring all SCAD parking facilities at both locations are being used effectively. The individual manages all SCAD garages and parking lots. • Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree or seven to ten years of directly related experience (such as experience in parking or transit professions as a manager) to include directly supervising personnel within a related field.
Demonstrated analytical and leadership abilities as evidenced by the successful implementation of programs and processes, the development and maintenance of collaborative relationships, and strong development skills.
Knowledge and experience in applying best practices to campus parking and transportation programs (e.g., higher education institutions, municipalities or similarly large and dispersed programs with a wide range of constituents) is preferred.
Experience reviewing maintenance requirements of surface and structured parking, and knowledgeably recommending repairs within industry best practices.
Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining programs and services that incorporate active transportation and transit-oriented transportation.
Experience planning and managing parking and transportation operations for large events such as concerts, sporting events, and the like.

Preferred Qualifications: Minimum ten (10) years senior security or law enforcement experience; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Emergency Management, Criminal Justice, or related field from an accredited college or university; Experience conducting risk assessments, threat management, investigations, security technology integration, and predictive analytics;  Strong verbal and written communication skills;Thorough understanding of technical security systems, product innovation, and industry trends. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the relevant compliance requirements of the Clery Act, VAWA, and Title IX.

Certificates, licenses and registrations: Valid driver's license and acceptance as a SCAD authorized driver

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
