Position Summary

The chief pilot is responsible for day-to-day leadership and management of the aviation department which includes one copilot and maintenance contractors as needed. The chief pilot is ultimately responsible for the corporate aircraft to be in a professional state of operational readiness at all times. The chief pilot will serve as captain in command of an Astra 1125 twin jet aircraft on journeys across the country. The chief pilot will interact as needed with SCAD executive administration and all other authorized passengers.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Duties may vary and other duties may be assigned.
  • Provides essential day-to-day leadership and management of aviation department.
  • Manages maintenance contractors and co-pilot.
  • Ultimately responsible for the corporate aircraft to be in a professional state of operational readiness at all times.
  • Serve as Captain in Command of an Astra 1125 SPX twin jet aircraft on journeys across the country.
  • Must interact professionally with SCAD Executive Administration and all other authorized passengers.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Aviation professional with solid aviation background
  • Excellent performance record.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) rating
  • 1st Class FAA medical
  • 4000 hours Total Flight time
  • 3000 hours Turbine time
  • 2000 hours turbojet time
  • Two years college (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • Astra SPX type rating with PIC hours logged preferred
  • Prior experience with Crew Resource Management
  • A thorough working knowledge of all laws and regulations governing aircraft operation in domestic and international airspace
  • Unquestionable ethical standards
  • A demonstrated professional demeanor and the ability to effectively interact with all levels of management

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
