As an A/V support specialist, you will serve as an operator and troubleshooter for all levels of SCAD presentations that require hardware or software. You will set up, operate, and breakdown events and productions that include sound and video systems, support and provide event leadership for live events, and ensure the optimal use of conference rooms, multimedia tools, and IT resources. As needed, you will attend production meetings, prepare and present staff reports and correspondence, and manage service requests. You will also manage the audio-visual department's assets and inventories throughout SCAD Savannah; install projectors, sound systems, and cabling; and create equipment lists, floorplans, and rack and console elevations, among other duties.

The successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of audio, lighting, video project, and system operations, as well as advanced knowledge of Crestron control systems. Experience with supervision is a welcome bonus, as this position manages a team of work-study students. A professional background in the setup and operation of audio-visual equipment for live events in large arenas, live music venues, live public-speaking spaces, conference rooms, and teleconferencing is a must. Technical support skills that involve troubleshooting on location and infrastructure issues that relate to presentation equipment is essential.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in film, television, sound, theater, or related discipline
  • At least one year of experience at an audio-visual company and with handling equipment (hookup and disassembly)
  • Familiarity with the workflow at live audio-visual venues and outdoor shows
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe practices

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license
  • Certifications and proficiency in proprietary audio-visual equipment

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
