As the mental health counselor, you will be responsible for consulting with various departments as needed and providing clinical supervision for interns and for associate counselors who are working hours toward licensure. In addition to supervising the above-mentioned individuals, the mental health counselor will participate in crisis intervention and maintain accurate documentation of student interactions. The timely documentation of student contact in the computer system and crisis intervention is a vital part of this job. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive campus environment. Additional responsibilities include participating in department performance-improvement initiatives. 

 Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field with a minimum of two years' experience in counseling 

  • Licensure as a mental health professional and experience in providing services in an educational setting or working with young adults  

  • Knowledge of diverse therapeutic modalities and evidence-based interventions with strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills 

  • Familiarity with computerized documentation 

  • Must be able to get to campus within 30 minutes during a crisis and participate in on-call rotations 

 Certificates, licenses, and registrations: 

  • Must be a fully licenses mental health professional 

  • Acceptable licenses include an Associate Professional Counselor (APC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) 

Travel Requirements: Less than 10%  

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
