As the academic writing coach, through small- and large-sized workshops, one-on-one coaching, and other learning support programs, you will provide supplemental instructional engagement initiatives across SCAD locations with an emphasis on student academic success and retention. In this position, you will advance student success in business-writing-related topics through on-ground and virtual workshops, classroom presentations, and individualized coaching. You will be responsible for developing customized presentation and workshop materials to supplement offerings while following the guidance of SCADextra leadership. 

In this position you will work with academic services and institutional effectiveness to provide writing support to students in areas identified through the university’s evaluation and assessment cycle. You will support student success and retention and contribute to the achievement of the SCAD mission with a student-centered focus. In this position, you will serve as the main point of contact to other department collaborators, assist in student outreach, conduct classroom visits, and assess TEDU and student referral data to promote services. Additional responsibilities include taking part in the hiring process, maintaining accurate records, archives, and data, and serving as a SCADextra ambassador.   

 Minimum Qualifications:   

  • Master’s degree in English or related field 

  • At least three years of experience in classroom or student-learning support 

  • Experience working with a diverse student population 

  • Proficiency in writing and verbal communication along with excellent organizational, time-management, and scheduling skills 

  • Attention to detail and exceptional work ethic with the ability to work well independently and collaboratively  

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
