As the full-time assistant director, you will meet individually with students to provide information regarding the application process, supporting documents, and portfolio counseling as needed and will follow up with prospective students to discuss their interests and answer questions about the admission process and opportunities at the university.  In this role you will foster relationships by providing personalized assistance to students and educators throughout the various stages of the admission process and will receive/process all documents required for admission and scholarship evaluation. Responsibilities include regularly following-up with students to ensure their applications are complete, providing them with key information needed to consider enrollment with SCAD, providing financial aid and student accounts assistance, and serving as the primary financial aid contact for your students.

As the first staff member many applicants will encounter on their SCAD journey, it is imperative that you live out the SCAD mission, vision, and values. You are expected to remain knowledgeable of all university policies and procedures to effectively communicate accurate information about the university including majors, programs of study, SCAD locations, scholarships, housing, meal plans, class registration, and more. You will maintain a close working relationship with supporting offices including student financial services, housing, registrar’s office, and the office of student success to ensure a smooth and successful enrollment process for students.

Among other duties, you will provide support to the on-campus team by conducting university tours, attending SCAD Days, and providing other staffing as assigned. You must take an active role in admission training, monitor regular application and enrollment reports, and maintain flexibility throughout the recruitment year to allow for institutional and personal growth. In this role, you will also travel to represent all SCAD locations to the prospective graduate student market. Travel engagements include attending college fairs and conferences, as well as hosting information sessions. You will plan and coordinate your travel to strategically identified four-year colleges and universities in conjunction with regional teammates.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree with exceptional communication skills
  • Attentiveness to detail and ability to think strategically, organize, and reach goals
  • Must work well under pressure and be able to shift focus quickly with a positive attitude
  • Must be a strong public speaker with advanced customer relations skills
  • Must be able to travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications:             

  • Microsoft Office suite, Banner, and Salesforce experience

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license

Travel required:

  • 20% to 40%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
