As an assistant director of SCAD SERVE, you will be the primary liaison between SCAD SERVE and community organizations in Savannah and Atlanta. You will be the frontline reviewer of partnership approvals, bring promising opportunities to the team, and organize volunteer and service initiatives. Among other duties, you will significantly contribute to the team's effectiveness and the results of design-for-good initiatives. You will also support GOOD 560 course electives by identifying opportunities to aid in course establishment, execution, and final deliverables. Additionally, you will manage the Galaxy Digital web solution used for all SCAD SERVE volunteer initiatives.

In this role, you will document and assess volunteer metrics quarterly and annually and lead large-scale SCAD SERVE initiatives, such as Buzz Bus and SCAD Paint Our Parks (POP). Responsibilities include budget tracking, management, and utilization; the development, coordination, and implementation of departmental assessments and strategic plans; and assessments of community service projects and ongoing volunteer activations. You will also submit and organize work orders. Among other duties, you will supervise, train, and implement professional development for SCAD SERVE fellows, volunteers, and student staff.

In this position, you will liaise with academic and student services departments to support ongoing education and outreach. You will integrate leadership and volunteerism into academic and co-curricular engagement and develop marketing and communication strategies for SCAD SERVE programming. Overall, you will work with the SCAD community and the surrounding area to develop opportunities to improve quality of life through design-for-good initiatives.

Minimum qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable nonprofit, education, or community engagement work
  • Experience with volunteering and project management

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Master's degree

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license

Travel required:

  • 20–40%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
