As an associate director of athletic communications, you will oversee the university's sports information, digital content, and social media. This responsibility includes game-day scoring; management of the athletics website; research, development, and implementation of a social media content calendar; and ensuring consistent branding and storytelling across platforms. You will coordinate live coverage of events; engage with fans, alumni, and recruits through direct communication and interactive campaigns; and coordinate press conferences and media days for major sports and/or athletes. In this role, you will also monitor social media trends, analytics, engagement, and accounts, as well as prepare performance reports for university leaderships.

Close working relationships with the university's marketing and PR departments is vital, and you will help ensure cohesive, current information for both internal and external communities. For SCAD athletics, you'll serve as the primary point of contact for local and regional media, distribute press releases, arrange interviews, and pitch feature stories local outlets to enhance the visibility of SCAD's athletics programs.

Among other duties, you will oversee student workers for the athletics department; compile schedules, rosters, and team stats for a variety of uses, including seasonal media guides; and assist in budget planning for social media management and initiatives. You'll also oversee the photo and video archives, maintain historical records for the department, and serve on cross-departmental committees related to marketing, brand strategy, and/or student engagement.

This position requires attendance at home games/matches and completes the scoring for all assigned sports.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
  • Ability to attend all home games and matches
  • Three to five years of professional experience in an athletic department coordinating sports information, promoting teams, and executing game management. 

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
