As the technician, you will build camera packages for faculty/staff/students in the department, and you must check the camera sensor, lenses for cleanliness, cables for shorts and/or damage, and for any loose screws or slip in gears. The person in this position will work directly with the public, troubleshoot camera operation errors, identify strength and weakness of solutions, and conduct repairs as needed. Responsibilities include entering and maintaining written and electronic data forms, ensuring that students and faculty get the correct equipment in good working order, promptly completing trouble reports to be delivered to the supervisor, and assisting with accurate inventory.

This person in this position is responsible for overseeing the neat, orderly storage of equipment, checking and packing camera kits for pickup, and reporting to the manager on the building status and any problems encountered during the previous shift. The successful candidate will also assist with all university events, venues, and live event spaces, which may require camera prep, repair, other preparation and consultation.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Two-year degree in electronics or related field with knowledge of digital and the accessories that accompany these systems
  • Comfortable with reading service manuals and testing equipment to troubleshoot
  • Excellent customer service and multitasking skills with extreme attention to detail 
  • Ability to work well under pressure 
  • Eagerness to keep abreast of the latest digital camera technology

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Four-year degree in electronics or related field
  • Work experience in the field

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license

Travel required:

  • 10% to 20%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
