Posting Text: SCAD Savannah seeks a career adviser to empower SCAD alumni as they launch into the next phase of their creative careers.

In this position, you will provide individualized advisement on all aspects of career preparation for SCAD undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni, from portfolio development and self-promotion to professional development opportunities. You will serve as a liaison with your assigned school, classification, and/or set of major programs; develop and implement group workshops, presentations, and other major-specific events in collaboration with faculty; and participate in and help plan departmental and institutional events like Out to Launch and SCAD Career Fair. You will review résumés, cover letters, and portfolios on the SCAD Job Portal, and conduct outreach to industry leaders, businesses, and alumni to develop jobs and internships for SCAD students and graduates, among other duties.

The successful candidate is an exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse populations. The candidate should be student focused and have a proven ability to develop positive working relationships with students, alumni, faculty, colleagues, and employers. Always professional in both dress and conduct, the successful candidate should have a comprehensive understanding of the art and design job markets and a thorough understanding of the career development process. The ability to deliver dazzling presentations is a must, as are exceptional organization and project-management skills.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (master’s degree preferred)
  • Professional experience in career advising, recruitment, or related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency with information management systems and other Web-based technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Salesforce (preferred)
  • Symplicity (preferred)

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
