As a career adviser, you will counsel undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni, throughout the career-acquisition process. You will serve as a liaison for assigned SCAD schools, majors, and/or student classifications. You will offer individual sessions with assigned students and will develop and implement workshops, presentations, and special events that benefit students and alumni through professional development or opportunities to connect with employers. Among other duties, you will also build working relationships with industry leaders, businesses, and alumni to nurture job and internship opportunities for SCAD students and graduates.
The successful candidate has exceptional interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, and can use these abilities to deliver captivating presentations. Organized and highly detailed, the candidate can manage multiple assignments with ease. The candidate is professional and has a proven ability to develop positive relationships quickly with individuals and groups from a variety of backgrounds. Working knowledge of the career-development process is essential, as is the ability to attend and participate in departmental and institutional events and activities as needed.
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
