As the career adviser, you are responsible for hosting one-on-one career advising sessions with students and alumni, advising them on career preparation, portfolio development, and professional development. In this position you will be expected to develop engaging, industry-specific programming and workshops while partnering with faculty and student organizations to develop major-specific professional development events. Responsibilities include acting as the liaison with industry partners, providing superior levels of service during on-campus recruiting visits, and assisting in planning department events including Career Fair and Out to Launch. You will be expected to review resumes, cover letters, and portfolios on the SCAD Job Portal and will report all student and alumni career success and career planning progress through web software.  

Minimum Qualifications:      

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field with proven ability to develop relationships with students, alumni, employers, faculty, and colleagues 

  • Working knowledge of the career development process and experience working with diverse populations  

  • Comprehensive understanding of the art and design job market 

  • Strong communication, presentation, organizational, and project-management skills 

  • Demonstrated proficiency with information management systems and other Web-based technology 
     

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master’s degree 

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: 

  • Valid driver’s license   

Travel Required:  

  • Less than 10% 

Work Hours:The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
