As the Chair of Fashion Marketing and Management, you will lead a team of faculty and staff in fulfilling the university’s mission, vision, and values within a dynamic global industry. In consultation with the dean, associate chair, and department members, you will develop a strategic direction that aligns with the university’s strategic plan and ensures an intentional, measurable contribution to the 8Rs (responsibility, resources, recruitment, retention, recognition, revenue, research, and results). You will implement strategies to strengthen the department's reputation for quality—particularly in areas like brand building, supply chain sustainability, and consumer engagement—while fostering a shared vision and respectful environment through collegiality and collaboration. By communicating goals frequently and effectively, you will build a cohesive team and support academic excellence by documenting student achievements and work outcomes.

In this role, you will lead faculty in implementing the responsibilities outlined in the Faculty Handbook, ensuring they continually review curriculum—including specialized courses such as Global Sourcing, Retail Buying Simulation, and Trend Forecasting—for quality and currency. You will manage curriculum development in collaboration with the dean, academic services, and program leaders at other university locations, ensuring adherence to educational outcomes and participation in assessment and accreditation activities. Beyond guiding faculty through curriculum policies, you will oversee academic scheduling and assign courses to faculty with the proper fashion industry credentials. You will coordinate the department's teaching and learning resources, conduct annual performance evaluations including classroom observations and student evaluation reviews, and provide written summaries and recommendations to the dean.

Your leadership extends to faculty recruitment, where you will participate in hiring trips, interviews, and candidate presentations to support academic hiring and headcount needs. You will manage student matters within defined processes, such as internship applications, SCADpro electives, course substitutions, and prerequisite waivers, while partnering with the admission department to recruit talented students. As chair, you will coordinate the review of graduate applications to ensure quality and lead the faculty in showcasing outstanding work during SCAD Days and high-profile events. You will also collaborate with the office of career and alumni success to assist students with industry opportunities and coordinate work submissions to global fashion competitions and awards.

As a frontline ambassador, you will promote the university, maintain partnerships with professional fashion organizations, and anticipate industry trends to inform programs. You will prepare quarterly and annual reports, monitor departmental data for maximum efficiency, and manage budget policies for purchase and travel requests. When appropriate, you will resolve faculty and student issues with sound judgment and provide unconditional support for all accreditation matters. As assigned, you will teach classes in the fall, winter, and spring quarters (and summer if needed), modeling academic leadership. The ideal candidate is a successful discipline professional with a reputation for innovation who can translate strategic vision into action, conduct thoughtful evaluations, and demonstrate a thorough understanding of curriculum tools to improve student learning in the fast-paced fashion landscape.
