As the circulation specialist, you will offer friendly and efficient assistance to library patrons and help locate relevant resources to support their academic and creative endeavors. In this position you will open and close the library, ensure the smooth operation and availability of services, communicate and enforce library services, carry out library account maintenance, and conduct intra-SCAD loans. Other responsibilities will include assisting students with using and troubleshooting technology, ensuring the equipment is in good condition and well stocked, participating in library-wide initiatives and projects, and performing collections maintenance. Additionally, you will ensure the environment is properly kept and clean, perform floor counts and front desk tallies, support library statistics collection, and report to the global services librarian.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use library information systems
  • Close attention to detail and the ability to keep organized records
  • Ability to manage resources and Library of Congress call number system for shelving books
  • Ability to work nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Candidates with previous library experience
  • Undergraduate degree in an area of study offered by SCAD    

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
