12 Month Salaried Staff FT

As a full-time community director, you will be responsible for the overall management of a residential building/area, including the supervision of graduate student staff, implementation of SCAD-based programming, and supporting student's overall success. You will work to resolve student concerns and answer questions; serve as an educator, resource, and advisor for academic and personal growth concerns; and establish an active presence and availability within your assigned residential community. You will also serve in the on-call rotation and as a student conduct hearing officer.

Among other responsibilities, you will supervise two or three graduate-level staff, 30–36 resident assistants, and be responsible for 1,000–1,200 residents. This position has the option of living in an on-site staff apartment; however, if you choose to live off-campus, you will be required to stay on-site during your on-call shift. You will also manage your assigned residence hall’s programming budget and assist with the housing selection process for residents and workshops, as well as the recruitment, selection, and training of all residence director and paraprofessional staff.

This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, student development, counseling, or a related discipline

  • One to three years of relevant professional experience in a college residential setting or other group-living environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Live-in residence life and housing experience as a graduate student or professional staff member

  • Experience with Banner, Adirondack, or similar software program

Certificates, licenses and registrations: Valid Driver's License

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
