As a community director, you will be responsible for the overall management of a residential building/area, including supervising graduate student staff, implementing SCAD-based programming, and supporting the success of your residents. In this full-time role, you will work to resolve student concerns, answer questions, and serve in the on-call rotation and as a student-conduct hearing officer. The position supervises several graduate-level staffers and is responsible for 1,000-1,200 residents and 30-36 resident assistants. You will have the option of living in an on-campus staff apartment. 

Among other duties, you will coordinate hall openings and closings, health and safety inspections, damage billing, and room consolidation. You will also assist with the housing selection process for prospective residents and manage a hall budget used for programming. This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel must report.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (higher education, student development, counseling, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • 1-3 years of professional experience
  • Prior experience in a college residential setting or other group-living environment

Preferred qualifications:

  • Residence life and housing experience as a graduate student or professional staff member

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
