The costume sewing technician position supports the world-renowned and award-winning programming in the school of entertainment arts. Sewing technicians support our students in SCAD’s stage, film and TV productions with excellent instruction and supervision in the execution of costumes by students of all levels of skill and experience, with emphasis placed on quality in construction and finishing techniques.

Position Summary:
SCAD Savannah seeks an experienced costume-sewing technician to support the renowned programming of the SCAD School of Entertainment Arts.

Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree in costume design, production design, or a related field. In addition, one to three years related experience and/or equivalent education and experience.

Demonstrated experience in machine and hand sewing techniques.
Proficiency in commercial and industrial sewing machine operation.
Excellent garment construction skills.
Knowledge of different fabrics and textiles. Proficient in draping, pattern making, dying and distressing.
The candidate must be able to work with a varied group while exhibiting patience, professionalism, flexibility, and a willingness to learn new information.
Whether working independently or as part of a team, the candidate should be able to work productively with little supervision on complicated tasks.

Creative problem solving and expert multi-tasking are essentials skills for this role

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
