SCAD seeks a full-time counselor and critical case manager for its location in historic Savannah, GA. In this position, you will provide counseling services to students; build and maintain collaborative professional relationships with community mental health agencies, local hospitals, and private practitioners; and support the counseling and student support services (CS3) department through consultations and providing continuity of care.

As a counselor and critical case manager, you will maintain an active caseload of students, offering individual and group counseling and, as needed, provide community referrals and crisis intervention. You will develop outreach and psychoeducational programming and presentations, provide clinical supervision to assigned department trainees and interns, and consult with university departments as necessary. You will serve as the CS3 case manager and will update, revise, maintain, and refine the CS3 database of community providers (e.g., fees, insurance information, current openings for clients, etc.). You will also help students understand and access their health insurance benefits to obtain specialized or ongoing mental health care, and assist students with accessing low-cost insurance coverage, among other duties.

The successful candidate is enthusiastic about and experienced in working with clients from diverse backgrounds and demonstrates a commitment to ongoing multicultural competence. The candidate should also be committed to upholding the highest levels of privacy and confidentiality. Ideally, the candidate has experience working in a college counseling center and is credentialed as a clinical supervisor. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as is a high level of organization. The candidate should also possess outstanding written and verbal interpersonal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, social work, or psychology
  • Clinical licensure in counseling, psychology, or social work OR license eligible
  • Two to five years of experience in counseling and higher education environments
  • Experience with young adult case management and care coordination, as well as working with a Student Conduct population
  • Ability to use an online scheduling and documentation software system

Certificates, licenses and registrations: License or eligible to apply for a license in clinical mental health counseling or related discipline.

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
