As an assistant director of SCAD Squads, you will collaborate with the senior director of student experience to reimagine and implement new policies, procedures, and expectations for existing SCAD Squads and leadership programs. In collaboration with the director, you will develop new programs and opportunities for growth. You will also recruit, train, and mentor program leaders to help them develop their skills and leadership abilities. Among other duties, you will identify current student leaders, staff, and recent alumni to assist with SCAD Squads programs. You will work with them to set goals, plan activities, and manage event logistics. Additionally, you will partner with student involvement and senior student leaders to produce cohesive content across all social media accounts. Responsibilities related to social media include account management and the creation of content that promotes events, highlights SCAD Squads, and helps build a vibrant, inclusive community.

In this role, you will foster a culture that celebrates diversity, promotes teamwork, and upholds university values. You will serve as a liaison between SCAD Squads and university administration to advocate for the needs and interests of squad members and encourage cross-departmental collaboration. You will also coordinate participation in location-wide events, including SCADbound programs, move-in and welcome week, and the SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival. Among other duties, you will manage the budget in partnership with the senior director and work with them to develop surveys that assess the impact of SCAD Squads through student engagement, retention, and satisfaction. Additionally, you will stay informed on student leadership development trends and best practices and oversee the implementation of risk management policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the SCAD Squads team.

The ideal candidate has excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. They demonstrate a solutions-based mindset and can handle multiple tasks simultaneously. They are highly motivated self-starters who stay positive and adaptable in a fast-paced, team setting.

Minimum qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with vendor, events, and project management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings and to travel to all SCAD locations
  • Access to reliable transportation

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license

Travel required:

  • 10–20%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
