As dean of students, you will oversee the university’s student crisis response and case management programs through outreach and follow-up support coordination. You will maintain and update the university’s crisis response protocol and on-call staff training; you will have extensive on-call responsibilities as a senior-level crisis response professional. Among other duties, you will provide effective leadership to manage campus-wide and student-specific crises and collaborate with others to develop and oversee response policies. Additionally, you will coordinate the implementation of the campus evacuation plan and supervise the departments of mental health, community standards, and disability resources. As a supervisor for these departments, you will assist in the development and execution of department goals, assessments, student programs, activities, and events. You will also regularly meet with student services leadership at all SCAD locations to guide programs and policies.

In this role, you will help develop, administer, and communicate department administrative budgets. You will oversee the code of student conduct, hear community standard appeals, and act as a key liaison for students and families with other university departments. Responsibilities include participation in the adjudication of Title IX cases as a hearing, appeal, or sanctioning officer, contributions to admission, orientation, and First Year Experience programs, and the coordination of the student handbook. Among other duties, you will regularly meet with the associate vice president for student success to review staff supervision and communicate issues and concerns related to services, programs, and events. You will also prepare quarterly and annual assessment plan reports for areas of supervision and ensure data is accurately presented. In doing so, you will guarantee that effective decisions are made based on the measures achieved.

The ideal candidate can manage crises with calmness, discretion, and a strong sense of responsibility and respect for students, families, and the university. They are knowledgeable about issues related to confidentiality and federal policies. They also possess excellent collaboration skills.

Minimum qualifications:      

• Master’s degree
• At least five years of diverse student services experience in roles with increasing responsibility (e.g., crisis and case management, supervising direct reports across multiple areas)

Travel required:  

• 10–20%   

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
