The departmental administrative assistant provides comprehensive and professional administrative support services to the office of academic services, department chair, school dean, and the faculty and staff who serve within the organizational structure of their school. This is an administrative support position that requires advanced project and people management skills through operational and administrative responsibilities, including tasks that require confidentiality, accuracy, punctuality, responsiveness and agility. The departmental administrative assistant supports the academic department within assigned schools on department academic projects and university initiatives, and also collaborates with the academic operations managers to help their academic departments meet requirements and deadlines on operational matters. The collaboration of the departmental administrative assistant expands to all units of the university, including but not limited to working on accreditation initiatives with institutional effectiveness, recruitment with admission, student matters with student success, registrar, career and alumni success, professional partnerships with SCADpro, academic content for printing and publishing and creative services, awards and rankings with institutional recognition, and more. This role requires undertaking operational and administrative responsibilities of the department and facilities, as well as, working in support of matters that require confidentiality, accuracy and ability to meet deadlines. The assistant will be required to work as part of a team and as an individual contributor.
SCAD Savannah seeks an experienced administrative assistant to provide comprehensive and professional support services for the foundation studies department.In this full-time position, you will support the department and its chair, faculty, and staff with academic projects and other university initiatives, and collaborate with academic operations managers to help the department meet its deadlines and requirements. You will assist academic services’ Operation Showcase by maintaining and updating displays, including before SCAD Days, signature events, tours, and commencement. You will coordinate and arrange meetings, agendas, and reports, and greet or direct visitors to the appropriate area or person. Among other duties, you will also collaborate with other SCAD departments, including accreditation initiatives with institutional effectiveness, recruitment with admission, student matters with student success, the registrar, and the office for career and alumni success, and more.The successful candidate demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and exhibits a commitment to honesty, discipline, integrity, and confidentiality. An eye for detail and accuracy is essential, and the candidate should possess advanced project- and people-management abilities. Always punctual and professional, the candidate is highly organized and responsive and is able to manage multiple priorities with ease. The ability to thrive as both an individual and team-based contributor is also a must.
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
