SCAD Savannah seeks a full-time rapid prototype operations manager to oversee the digital fabrication labs.
In this role, you will supervise a stellar team of full-time, part-time, and student employees that operate the university’s laser cutters, 3D printers, and wide-format printers for every major program at SCAD Savannah. As an operations manager, you will make necessary changes in the labs to ensure the goals of each program are met, including efficient utilization of facilities and their services, equipment upgrades, and software updates that incorporate recent advancements in industrial standards.
The successful candidate demonstrates a professional working knowledge of both design and drafting procedures. An advanced level of skill and knowledge on the safe and efficient operation, repair, and maintenance of specialized equipment (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters, large-format printers, etc.) is essential, and a familiarity with digital technology equipment, techniques, and safety procedures is a must. Finishing skills and experience in an academic environment is a welcomed bonus, as is certification in AM, Onyx, or injection molding design.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required.
Familiar with digital technology equipment, techniques and safety procedures.
Proficient in Rhinoceros, Solid Works and Illustrator, or similar modeling/graphics programs.
Professional working knowledge of design and drafting procedures.
Experience in an academic environment helpful but not required.
Mechanical and/or electrical knowledge a plus.
An advanced level of knowledge is required in the safe and efficient operation, maintenance of specialized equipment and coordinate repairs including but not limited to 3d printers, laser cutters and large format printers.
Certificates, licenses and registrations: Certificates are not required but beneficial if the candidate possess an AM, Onyx or injection molding design certification.
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
