As a digital lab technician, you will be responsible for the setup and operations of all the digital fabrication lab technologies, including laser cutters, 3D printers, and large-format color printers. You will maintain the safety, functionality, and cleanliness of the lab equipment and environment through your responsibilities, such as conducting quarterly inventory and ensuring compliance with established safety policies.

Among other duties, you will maintain usage statistics on lab equipment, train student employees on safe equipment operation, ensure accurate billing and timely paperwork on jobs, advise students on correct file setup and execution of projects, and schedule and conduct demos and tours for the lab. You will also meet daily with the rapid prototyping operations manager. The successful candidate is a detail-oriented self-starter with working knowledge of digital technology equipment (i.e., 3D printing, laser cutting, digital printing) including its operation, repair, and maintenance.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-4 years’ experience
  • Proficient in Rhino, Solid Works, Illustrator, or other similar modeling/graphics programs

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in an academic environment
  • Mechanical and/or electrical knowledge

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
