As the director of maintenance, you will direct maintenance and repair activities, respond to emergencies, and manage contractors. Through designated superintendents and supervisors, you will direct general building and dormitory maintenance, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, welding, masonry, keys, housekeeping and grounds, and quality assurance.

 

The successful candidate should have experience in all areas and levels of maintenance work, including for buildings, equipment, and machinery. Advanced knowledge of the construction process and state, federal, and local laws and regulations is essential. The candidate should have successful supervisory experience, a willingness to pitch in, and the ability to remain focused on the big picture. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills are also necessary for building relationships with internal and external constituencies.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline
  • At least 10 years of facilities management or relevant professional experience
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and schematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
  • Prior experience in preparing and monitoring complex budgets and schedules.

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license
  • OSHA 30 Certificate

 

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
