As a director of SCADhome communities, you will oversee the development and implementation of the department's overall community development plan. This plan will include a programming model, department-wide programming efforts, and collaborations with faculty and staff to implement programming and enhance the residential experience. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of training for all residence life staff throughout the year and will assess department values, targets, and learning outcomes to be included. You will lead the creation of community development resources such as manuals, forms, and a university contact list for staff usage. In this role, you will assist with budget preparation and management. You will regularly meet with student account representatives and admission and housing staff. You will also hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student work-study staff.

Responsibilities will include managing all residence hall openings, closings, check-ins, and checkouts. You will communicate with parents and students regarding residence hall policies, processes, and concerns. You will monitor student conduct issues within the residence halls, responding as needed. You will also implement year-round social, educational, diversity, and leadership program offerings in the residence halls. In collaboration with the senior director of housing operations, you will facilitate room changes/roommate requests, inspections, consolidations, and occupancy reports.

You will collaborate with the admission office to host successful summer program conferences during SCAD Days. Regarding alleged code of student conduct violations, you will serve as an upper-level hearing and investigative officer, supporting residence directors and paraprofessional staff throughout the investigation. In this position, you will serve as the on-call manager during rotations and handle emergencies/crises as they arise. This position is essential to the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Master's degree
  • At least five years of responsible work experience in collegiate student affairs
  • Three years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience working with residence life

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
