SCAD seeks an Enterprise Application Developer to assist in planning for the continuous evolution of the university’s software suite and in-house web-based solutions.

Position Summary: In this position, you will plan, design, develop, test, debug, deploy, and monitor highly available applications to support university-wide initiatives for internal and external clients. As a senior-level resource to employees throughout the university, you will assist and lead the development, testing, and implementation of web solutions for essential functionality for administrative staff, management, executives, faculty, and students, oversee future upgrades and new-solution integration of the university’s software packages, and provide guidance to other application developers.

You will also define technical solution objectives by analyzing user requirements, envisioning system features and functionality, and assist in determining design methodologies and toolsets for new application development efforts. You will communicate and work as a team player with all levels of users and technical staff, developing an in-depth knowledge of the university’s application portfolio, development tools, and development procedures. This position also requires meeting with various university departments to assess needs, providing second-tier support for application and reporting issues, and supporting other IT-related university initiatives as needed.

The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge and experience with relational database technology, data structures, and web development technology, including Java, Servlets/JSP, Groovy/Grails, SQL, Oracle, PL/SQL, Apex, Web Services, Spring, HTML, Hudson/Jenkins, Pentaho Data Integration, JavaScript, Git, Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, and Nginx. You should be able to quickly master new technologies as needed, with a focus on delivering a high level of customer service, and demonstrate advanced experience with object-oriented design and development techniques using Java technologies.

Possess extensive knowledge of and experience with relational database technology, data structures, web development technology; Java, Servlets/JSP, Groovy/Grails, SQL, Oracle, PL/SQL, Apex, Web Services, Spring, HTML, Hudson/Jenkins, Pentaho Data Integration, JavaScript, Git, Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat and Nginx.

Able to quickly master new technologies as needed, a focus on delivering a high level of customer service and demonstrate advanced experience with object oriented design and development techniques using Java technologies.
BS degree in computer science, or a BA degree in business administration with a concentration in management information systems or related field.

Five to seven years’ experience in a similar position developing web applications

Excellent oral and written communication skills while fostering collaborative relationships with users.

Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently while utilizing time management skills with tight deadlines.

Strong skills in analyzing and solving difficult problems using technology.

Certificates, licenses and registrations: Valid Driver's License

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
