The full-time staff interpreter will report to the Coordinator of Deaf Services. In this role, your primary responsibility will be to provide high quality, accurate and professional interpreting and/or transliterating services for students, faculty, staff and guests of the college. Interpreter will also provide interpreting services for university departments and initiatives, including SCAD Savannah Film Festival, Animation Fest, SCAD tours, SCAD story and more. The interpreter will participate in team meetings, ODR sponsored events, collaborate with fellow staff interpreters, complete annual goals and provide administrative duties as assigned.

Administrative duties will include but not be limited to:

* Schedule and track CART services

* Check-out/Check-in loaner equipment (VRI kits, microphones, lapel mics, etc.)

* Coordinate notetaking services for eligible students

* Manage, organize and share prep materials from Blackboard with part-time interpreters.

All written communication will be respectful, professional and courteous and free of grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors. Interpreter is expected to engage this position with curiosity and a growth mindset.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Fluent in American Sign Language
Fluent in written and spoken English
Exceptional, and highly accurate interpretation skills
Exceptional, and highly accurate transliteration skills
Ability to interpret in multi-range register from ASL - English
Working knowledge and application of contemporary interpreting models
Highly motivated, organized and professional
Bachelor's degree
Growth/learning mindset
Minimum of 5 years of interpreting experience
Certification by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), National Association of the Deaf (NIC) and/or Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) OR successfully obtain certification within 2 years of hire.

 

Certifications/ Licenses:
