As an assistant director of student involvement, you will oversee all interclub council (ICC) student processes and advise on the development and implementation of educational, social, community service, and cultural programs. You will also pitch event ideas, concepts, décor, and models to the senior director of student experience for approval. You will train and provide development opportunities for student club leaders and faculty/staff advisers. Among other duties, you will conduct assessments and compile reports related to student activities and ICC. You will also meet with student club leaders to discuss, implement, and evaluate location-specific programs, events, and trips. Additionally, you will ensure ICC compliance with safety standards and university policies and procedures.

In this role, you will plan and support large-scale student involvement and SCAD signature events, such as orientations and the Sidewalk Arts Festival, to foster positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external guests. Additionally, you will collaborate with individual students and groups to provide resource referrals and identify involvement opportunities. Among other duties, you will serve as the primary contact for the evening and weekend coordination of all ICC activities, events, and venues. This includes the organization of student club fairs, security trainings for club advisers, and budget management of approximately $100,000.

In this position, you will support student-initiated, assessment-based programming and training efforts that offer engaging experiences to foster the ongoing growth of the university community. You will also assist with the LEAD Conference, interview days, recruitment, and leadership awards. Responsibilities include the supervision of student employees to ensure they follow the university’s student employment guidelines. Additionally, you will participate in the on-call rotation to respond to emergencies and provide guidance during crisis situations. This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.

Minimum qualifications:      

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least two years of experience in student activities within a college or university setting 

Preferred qualifications:      

  • Master’s degree in a related field

Travel required:  

  • Less than 10%  

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
