As the graduate success adviser, you will meet with a specific caseload of students to assist them with registration, questions about various programs and opportunities such as study abroad, reviewing guidelines and academic processes and forms, and changing majors. In this position you are required to document all interaction with students in our database, establish relationships with internal partners to better understand each program’s curriculum and provide scheduling support, and provide early and ongoing outreach to students. Responsibilities include responding to communications from students, parents, and staff and outreaching to students about registration, the five-year deadline, thesis work, and financial aid reminders.

As the graduate success adviser, you will work closely with personnel in other key departments on campus to support students throughout their time at SCAD. This will include attending classes, thesis or final project presentations, graduate events, reviews, orientations, and graduation. The graduate success adviser provides guidance and support to graduate students in all college locations through a variety of communications and ensures adequate documentation. You must be knowledgeable of SCAD's internal policies and procedures to enforce them and contact students on a quarterly basis. 

Minimum Qualifications:     

  • Master's degree
  • Strong organizational, computer, communication, and problem-solving skills,
  • Must work well in a team and show a genuine interest in students’ success and education in general
  • Adaptability and flexibility are a must along with being able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be comfortable contacting students by phone

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of report writing

Travel Required:

  •   Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
