As the superintendent, you are responsible for daily scheduling, supervising all activities and tasks, and ensuring the safety and visual compliance of the campus and successful completion of work. In this position, you will ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with the scope of work. You’ll also identify non-compliance with university standards and ensure that deficiencies identified by the project team are corrected. The superintendent performs daily walk-throughs and inspections to monitor activities and assist in future planning. The grounds and housekeeping superintendent ensures that all locations are kept clean, manages department inventory, manages a budget, and works with internal departments where trades can defer cost and performance duties. Additionally, you will perform a job progress and completion punch list.

This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report. In this role, you will follow all SCAD and OSHA policies while maintaining a professional appearance.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent with proven experience in groundskeeping and housekeeping roles
  • At least five years of supervisory experience with a strong knowledge of landscape maintenance and installation and the ability to identify deficient work and provide resolution
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemical handling, and proper use and storage of equipment
  • Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Additional education or certification in hospitality management or related field

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
