As a head strength and conditioning coach based in vibrant Atlanta, Ga., you will play a critical role in the development of long-term athletic plans and will manage training volumes to support peak performance at important times of the year.

In support of the department, you will:

  • Enhance the physical and mental development of SCAD student-athletes
  • Supervise fitness instructors and fitness center staff
  • Teach fundamentals for increasing and developing cardiovascular and strength abilities, as well as sport-specific strength and power

As a head coach, you will:

  • Collaborate with the athletic training staff to monitor student-athlete rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation programs
  • Provide a strength and conditioning philosophy
  • Plan fitness class offerings for SCAD students, faculty, and staff

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong interpersonal, motivational, coordination, and organizational skills
  • Positive communication skills
  • Knowledge of various training modalities to support individual sport requirements

Minimum qualifications:      

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least one year of experience in fitness and group training

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:  

  • Certification in personal training and/or group exercise
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent strength and conditioning
  • CPR/AED certification
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid passport

Travel required:  

  • 20–40%

Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
