Join SCAD as an HVAC technician II and help maintain the university's HVAC systems in historic buildings across Savannah. In this position, you will perform maintenance on 1- to 40-ton commercial and residential systems, such as filter and drain replacement, piping, wiring, and troubleshooting, and replacing of fan motors, blower motors, heaters, contractors, reversing valves, compressors, and TXVs.

 

The ideal candidate should have a clear understanding of components and control systems such as Siemens, Carrier, and Trane. Commercial refrigeration and ice machine knowledge is preferred. The candidate must have a valid refrigerant card to comply with the Clean Air Act.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical school degree in an appropriate area
  • Four to five years of electrical experience in construction or maintenance

 

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver's license (must be able to be insured by college insurance company to drive a vehicle)
  • Must be able to pass DOT medical exam. If an applicant fails the DOT physical based upon a claimed disability under the ADA and notifies the university of such, the university will participate in the interactive process with the applicant to determine if there is a reasonable accommodation pursuant to which the applicant can perform the essential functions of the position.

 

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
