As an information security analyst, you will monitor and advise on information security issues related to systems and workflows to ensure that the university's internal security controls are appropriate and operating as intended. You will be responsible for the management of security applications, including firewalls, intrusion prevention, endpoint security, and more. You will coordinate and implement information technology (IT) security projects, responses to security incidents, and vulnerabilities with IT management, the legal department, safety and security, and law enforcement agencies.

In this position, you will develop and publish information security policies, procedures, and guidelines based on compliance requirements and best practices. You will conduct university-wide data classification assessments, security audits, and remediation plans. You also will be responsible for the management of user security awareness, completing security research and training sessions, and documenting campus notifications, web content, and alerts. As the information security analyst, you will demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and consultative skills.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • B.A./B.S. in a related computer science or information technology
  • At least three years of experience in information security
  • Basic knowledge in incident or malware response, including chain of evidence practices and analysis, using proprietary and open-source tools
  • Basic knowledge of tools used for network security (Data Loss Prevention, Network Intrusion Prevention Systems, Host Intrusion Prevention Systems, Wireshark, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience utilizing Splunk to perform security information and event management (SIEM) or leading-vendor SIEM
  • One or more certificates (CISSP, CISM, CISA, GSEC, CEH, GIAC) or solution-specific technical certifications

Travel required:

  • Less than 10%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
