As an information security manager, you will lead information security initiatives working across departments and campuses. The position requires resolving complex technical problems based on knowledge and experience and is regularly subject to high workloads operating under deadlines. This is a high-level position involving exposure and access to highly confidential material, and discretion and confidence are of the utmost importance.


In this full-time role, you will work with information technology peers to manage SCAD's extensive portfolio of security appliances across the entire technology ecosystem; ensure continual network penetration tests, vulnerability and risk analysis, and data loss prevention scans are performed; and see that threats are remediated. You will be responsible for maintaining SCAD's advanced network security architecture, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint detection and response (EDR) sensors, and cloud-based protection tools.

The ideal candidate will have a solid technical systems and network administration background, along with experience successfully leading teams through security operations. Experience managing complex information security projects from the identification phase through procurement and full implementation is a requirement.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
  • More than two years of experience utilizing Splunk or a leading vendor to perform security information and event management (SIEM)
  • Strong knowledge and working technical experience managing the endpoint solutions landscape from leading vendors such as Trend, SentinelOne, Carbon Black, CrowdStrike, and others
  • Experience administering and deploying multi-factor (MFA/2FA) authentication solutions to protect critical business services
  • Knowledge in incident and/or malware response, including chain of evidence practices and analysis using proprietary and open-source forensics tools
  • Knowledge of tools used for network security (data loss prevention, network intrusion prevention systems, host intrusion prevention systems, Wireshark, etc.)
  • Knowledge of information security management frameworks, such as International Standards Organization (ISO) 27001/2, NIST, PCI, and rules and regulations surrounding data privacy requirements (FERPA, HIPAA, GDPR)

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • CISSP, GIAC, or other security certifications

Preferred qualifications:

  • One or more certificates (CISSP, CISM, CISA, GSEC, CEH, GIAC) or solution-specific technical certifications

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.

Travel required: Less than 10%
