The Interpreter/Testing Coordinator will report to the Coordinator of Deaf Services. In the interpreting role, your responsibility will be to provide high quality and accurate interpreting and/or transliterating services between English and ASL. Convey the register, tone, intent, and content of the consumer’s message accurately. Uphold the RID Code of Professional Conduct. In the Testing Coordinator role, you are responsible for facilitating exam accommodations for students with disabilities. The person will demonstrate courtesy towards others, respect diversity, be flexible with changes, updates and unexpected circumstances. Communicate respectfully, professionally and courteously with students, colleagues and supervisors.
 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree with ASL/English fluency and knowledge of the ADA, 504, and disability-related legislation
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal communications skills with the ability to articulate program goals and objectives
  • Adept at interacting with diverse populations and receptive to feedback with a willingness to learn and embrace continuous improvement
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, and communicate office needs, projects, and complex scheduling issues to the appropriate Disability Resources team members

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Certification by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), National Association of the Deaf (NAD), and/or Board for Evaluation of Interpreters (BEI) OR successfully obtain certification within two years of hire

Travel required:

  • 10% to 20%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
