SCAD Savannah seeks an experienced housekeeper to be responsible for providing the highest standard for a clean and healthy university environment.
In this full-time position, you will be responsible for the inventory, management, and cleanliness and maintenance of event equipment and linen, employee uniforms, cleaning/janitorial supplies, linens and china, kitchen and pantry stock, and consumables associated with the executive property to which you will be assigned. You will ensure a sufficient supply of all in-stock items used to support events (e.g., tablecloths, detergent, hangers, etc.). You will oversee and participate in the preparation of assigned dining locations, including Gryphon Tea Room, as well as events, conferencing, and other departments or locations as needed. You will be responsible for fulfilling all workflow needs, including the collection of all work orders and adding them to the SCAD myschoolbuilding system, confirming availability, opening/closing work orders in a timely manner, and reporting electrical, mechanical, and structural repairs needed to your supervisor.
As a housekeeper, you will assist with the management of inventory upkeep, event setups (e.g., serving meals and other wait services), and organizing staffing schedules and cleaning routines for your assigned areas. You will also be responsible for training new staff and performing housekeeping services for each assigned area, including ensuring proper hospitality and reception of guests; the purchase of supplies and materials for your assigned building(s); and use of the SCAD ecommerce site to ensure that all invoices are paid, payments and receipts are tracked, and that there are no double billing/other errors on behalf of vendor(s).
The successful candidate demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, as well as an upbeat, friendly, and customer-oriented personality. The candidate must have proven experience as a cleaner or housekeeper and the ability to work with little supervision while maintaining a high level of performance. Time-management skills are also essential.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Five to 10 years of related work experience and/or training OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificates, licenses and registrations: Valid driver’s license and vehicle
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
