As a maintenance superintendent for carpentry, drywall, and painting, you will oversee and coordinate operations for various building maintenance and renovation projects. You will manage team members to ensure safety compliance, coordinate schedules, and maintain quality control. You will ensure that that projects are completed on time and within budget. You will serve as the primary point of contact for carpentry, drywall, and painting tasks, establishing a schedule for their completion that aligns with the overall project timeline.

In this position, you will perform regular inspections to ensure that work meets company quality standards and project specifications. You will quickly identify and address any quality issues, collaborating with quality assurance personnel and inspectors as necessary. If needed, you will investigate and report accidents or safety violations. You will be responsible for the maintenance of accurate records, submission of progress reports, and budget management.You will ensure all required documentation is completed and filed per company standards.

In this role, you will conduct meetings to provide updates, assign tasks, and communicate OSHA and SCAD safety guidelines and policies. You will also collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to meet specifications and deadlines while addressing concerns or changes. You will strive to anticipate and resolve any issues that could delay projects; oversee tool ordering, delivery, and inventory; and maintain cost control by minimizing waste.

As a maintenance superintendent, you will perform carpentry tasks such as framing and installations. You will prepare surfaces for work and then apply finishes to achieve a smooth, uniform appearance. You will be responsible for replacing ceiling and wall finishes, repairing floors, and installing visual displays, including display cases, signage, partitions, toilet accessories, and pin-up or dry-erase surfaces.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills. The candidate will also display comprehensive verbal and written communication skills. They must be able to pass the DOT medical exam.

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 10 years of experience in construction, with a focus on carpentry, drywall, and painting, with at least five years of supervisory experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of carpentry, drywall, and painting techniques and best practices
  • Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and construction regulations
  • Proficiency in construction project management software and Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in a superintendent role

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
