As a maintenance tech, you will perform general maintenance such as electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and painting, and will help with furniture moves and event setups. You will perform daily walkthroughs and assess items that require mechanical, electrical, or painting improvements; coordinate with other areas of physical resources to handle repairs and work order requests; and assist with the inspection and repair of all signs and bulletin boards.
Among other duties, you will perform major and minor building projects and repairs (e.g., drywall patching and painting rooms, roof repairs, flood management, etc.) and adhere to all OSHA and SCAD regulations and safe practices. You will also have on-call hours to handle emergencies as this position is considered essential personnel.
The successful candidate is a self-starter with general knowledge of maintenance trades, including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical, as well as a strong background in mechanical maintenance (HVAC maintenance, controls, boilers, fire systems). Professional and logistics-minded, the candidate can effectively and efficiently handle event setups and deliver high quality customer service. The ability to read work orders, furniture layouts, and event setups is vital, as is the ability to listen to instructions and take direction. The candidate should be comfortable with using computers to enter payroll and reimbursements and handle work orders. Strong time-management skills are also essential.

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
