As the maintenance technician, you will perform various maintenance and repair work, such as plumbing, electric, HVAC troubleshooting, furniture repair, and more as instructed or assisted by other personnel. The technician will assess that items are in working order and will complete any necessary repairs. This job requires the operation of heavy machinery such as forklifts and the completion of work orders, as well as using the order documentation system and coordinating with fellow staff members to complete all assignments.

The coordination between staff members to accomplish duties is integral to the position as is the ability to work independently with little direction while meeting schedules and timelines. The ideal candidate can perform heavy physical labor, lift heavy objects, be on call to handle emergency situations, and always maintain a professional appearance. Adherence to OSHA regulations and safety practices and SCAD policies and procedures is crucial.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • At least four years’ experience in construction or maintenance
  • Must be able to climb, stoop, kneel, stand, and lift
  • Must be able to pass DOT medical exam*

Certificates, licenses, and registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Acceptance as SCAD authorized driver

Travel required: 10% to 20%

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
