In this role, you will be responsible for the supervision, maintenance, and equipment checkout at SCAD Studio, and will assist with the management of the digital lab equipment. You may be required to work at other SCAD Atlanta shops and will assist faculty, staff, and students with special fabrication needs and projects.
The successful candidate has a keen eye for detail, organization, and cleanliness, as well as comprehensive knowledge of woodworking equipment, processes, and techniques. The ability to initiate, establish and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative and productive work environment is essential.
Flexible schedules are available on evenings and weekends.
Position Summary: SCAD Atlanta seeks a part-time shop technician to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient fabrication shop environment at SCAD Studio.
Minimum Qualifications:
• A minimum of two years experience within a University IDUS/Sculpture or related program, or two years’ experience in a shop/studio environment is required.
• In-depth knowledge of woodworking equipment, processes, and techniques
• Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative and productive work environment
• Cleanliness, attention to detail, and organization skills
Preferred Qualifications: • Metal fabrication experience preferred but not required
• Knowledge of laser cutting and 3D printing processes preferred but not required
• Illustrator and Rhino proficiency preferred
Certificates, licenses and registrations:
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. In order to accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
