The core of graphic design at SCAD is the “Thinking by Doing” pedagogy. This approach — defined by three top-line objectives called “The Three Cs: consume, comprehend, create” — develops designers who understand and articulate their work from an informed point-of-view. From this foundation, students generate successful market-ready ideas, connect thought with form, and integrate work across media.

As a professor, you will aid students through peer and client collaboration in a productive, high-energy environment. You will also guide students as they learn to see the world differently and explore multiple perspectives in the field of graphic design.
The successful candidate can skillfully articulate a vision of graphic design education in the 21st century that aligns with the department’s mission to produce preeminent visual communicators who connect research, social responsibility, and pragmatism to deliver spectacular content. The candidate should be comfortable teaching in cross-disciplinary teams focused on experiential projects and possess the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in typography, print, and interactive design.

SCAD graphic design students breathe energy into brands, social movements, and ideas — influencing companies like Apple, Google, LinkedIn, the NFL, and more. Across campaigns, they persuade, inspire, and connect audiences, earning honors from the International Design Awards, Indigo Awards, Red Dot Communication Design Awards, Core77 Design Awards, GDUSA American Package Awards, and more. As a full-time professor, you will join a remarkable faculty of visual luminaries who encourage students to see the world differently, to shift focus and understand how perception influences meaning.
