As a SCAD professor, you will be required to meet expectations of planning and preparing for teaching; maintain an active and engaged classroom environment; complete syllabus design, submission, and approval; hold office hours and midterm grade reviews; provide extra help sessions, extended-learning opportunities, and field trips; and conduct program-level assessments. The professor will model professionalism, fulfill grading and academic documentation requirements, record attendance, follow academic policies and regulations, and support academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts.

The SCAD animation program is grounded in the philosophy of storytelling through character performance and, as a professor, you will directly influence the next generation of animators based on your unique perspective, cultural background, and professional experiences in animation. In addition to other duties and responsibilities required in the faculty handbook and the employment agreement, a professor teaches courses, as determined by contact hours, and in accordance with their credentials, university needs and a signed employment agreement. The university, in its sole discretion, may assign the professor to a teaching or non-teaching position as stipulated in the employment agreement.  

Other responsibilities include attending on ground and virtual events such as faculty meetings, admission events, curriculum assessment and development, institutional effectiveness and accreditation support, and other events, exhibitions, or publicity assignments.   

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Terminal degree in animation or in a relevant field 

  • Academic and professional credentials to teach in a certain discipline 

  • Experience in or knowledge of related professions 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Teaching experience at the collegiate level   

Certificates, licenses, and registrations: Ability to be credentialed through SACS guidelines of justified to teach  

Travel Required: Less than 10% 

Work Hours:As noted in the employment agreement.
