SCAD Atlanta seeks a full-time professor for SCADpro, the university’s collaborative innovation studio that solves creative and business challenges for Fortune 500 clients, launches new brands, and offers students executive education.
In this role, you will teach PRO 540, 560, and 580 courses; demonstrate model leadership, and foster a positive learning environment for students from a variety of disciplines. As a professor, the courses you teach will help prepare students for real-world design assignments and high-performance collaborations through lectures and presentations by faculty, professional guests, industry partners, and expert staff; diverse case studies, professional presentation tips, and collaboration exercises — all supplemented by robust exchange where students expand their dialogue, discoveries, and collaboration abilities.
When teaching PRO 540, you will guide students as they refine their skills in effective communication, efficient management, adaptive thinking, and creative problem solving. Students will work collaboratively and inter-disciplinarily to research, develop, and conceptualize creative solutions for design challenges and user-centered products, services, and systems. For PRO 560–580 courses, you will focus on user-centered research for businesses and lead students as they execute contextual research, product conceptualization and development, and prototyping for compelling and interactive user experiences. Specific projects and industry partnerships vary from quarter to quarter.
Experienced in collaborative studio leadership, the candidate should be a strong communicator who can use exceptional interpersonal skills to find opportunities for SCADpro to partner with the creatives and executives leading brands such as AT&T, Dynacraft, Mattel, Microsoft, BMW, and more. Outstanding project management and organizational skills are essential, as is a results-oriented focus and assertive personality. The candidate should have high attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and personal and professional integrity. A commitment to student learning is also vital for this position.
One of the fastest growing cities in the U.S., Atlanta provides professionals an ideal environment in which to live, work, and play. Located in the heart of Midtown, SCAD Atlanta is home to a vibrant cultural landscape that includes theaters, museums, fine art galleries, bustling shops, and countless green spaces, including Piedmont Park and Atlanta’s famed BeltLine. The capital of Georgia, Atlanta provides both southern charm and the ebb and flow of an alpha city.
